Myths about sun protection

You think that olive oil protects against ultraviolet rays? You think that UVA rays are not as dangerous as the UVB?You think that your auto bronze protects you from harmful rays of the sun? Such myths about sunscreen put your life in danger. A fault protection against UV rays can lead to skin cancer, and one of the most common and aggressive form of cancer is melanoma.

There is no 100% protection!

Until last year, the companies producing cosmetics for sun protection could pass names on labels such as "sunblock", "100% protection" or "total sun protection. These indications have been banned because studies have shown that no sunscreen product can provide full protection against UV rays.

UVA rays are not as dangerous as the UVB: false!

While UVB rays cause sunburn, UVA rays cause premature skin aging and the human immune system disorders. Both types of radiation increases the risk of skin cancer. "Sun protection factor" only refers to equal levels of sunburn (UVB radiation), but not to similar effects from UVA radiation.

Sunscreen products that provide protection only against UVB radiation may give a false sense of security because they let hazardous UVA radiation reach the skin.This industry is beginning to apply labels sign standardized UV, which indicates a minimum level of protection against UVA, which increases in parallel with an increasing sun protection factor.

Natural oils can help, but not alone!

Many women use olive oil or other natural oils for sunscreen when going to the beach. It is true that such oils are great for skin, hydrate and managed to give them lots of vitamins and minerals, but they are not strong enough to act as a sunscreen lotion. Sunscreen lotions contain chemicals that absorb or repel harmful UVA and UVB, depending on the active ingredients used. If you want to use oils to nourish your skin and give the resistance against harmful rays, choose buckthorn oil and associate it with the beach lotion with adequate protection factor.

Auto bronze lotion does not protect you against UV rays!

There is a myth which says that lotions and creams that give the appearance of tanned skin are efficient in terms of sun protection.This myth is very dangerous for your health. This creams and lotions do nothing but to "emulate" tanned, coloring by a chemical reaction the layer of dead cells from skin. Therefore, they do not provide any sun protection. The same thing is with the oils designed to accelerate tanning at the beach.This does not provide adequate sun protection, with a low sun protection factor of 6 or 10. These oils are recommended only for those who have already tanned and very dark skin.
